Lenovo Group, Ltd. often abbreviated as Lenovo, is a Chinese multinational technology company, headquartered in Beijing, China.
Lenovo was founded in Beijing in November 1984 as Legend and was incorporated in Hong Kong in 1988. The company acquired IBM's personal computer business in 2005 and agreed to acquire its Intel-based server business in 2014. Lenovo entered the smartphone market in 2012 and from 2014 was the largest smartphone supplier in mainland China. In 2014, the company acquired Google's mobile phone manufacturer Motorola Mobility. In November 2017, Lenovo acquired Fujitsu's personal computer business for $157 million to secure supplies of computer components and to reduce costs.
